Beat the Heat

Shoes, Style

So, most of the UK is baking today in temperatures usually reserved for, well, somewhere else. So how do you beat the heat and stay cool? And by cool I patently mean fabulous (but hey no harm in keeping the temperature down too).

Clearly flip flops are not suitable attire for anything other than the pub, the beach, the park, at home, the spa, the pool (hang on, can you wear them everywhere?) Oh no, work, the office, unless of course you have a particularly relaxed boss but even still, surely a nice sandal will suffice? Does the fact that you can’t get away with them everywhere make them all the more enjoyable to wear? After all, there’s no better way to signal to your brain it’s time to take a break. Aaaaand RELAX! There on the end of your foot is a physical reminder that it’s time to chill out.

What did we do before Havaianas though (can a flip flop ever be luxe?!) Oh yeah, we wore those blue and white bad boys from the 80s available for £1.99 in any old bucket and spade shop. They remind me of family holidays on the beach or wading through streams when your dad would inevitably end up down stream trying to fashion a fishing rod out of a tree branch to rescue the buggers. They inevitably floated away didn’t they? So damn buoyant!

So I say on this hottest of hot days-pull on your flip flops, grab an ice cream and (in a responsible fashion of course) enjoy the sun!
